TEETH MACHINE GUMBALL

London outfit Teeth Machine meddle through the mire of social anxiety on their satisfyingly dirgey new single 'Gumball'. A song that drags its heels under the weight of it all, 'Gumball's introspective premise and heavy instrumentation leads to a release of tightly held thoughts and feelings, as the band explain: “‘Gumball’ is about the impossibility of talking. It was written during quite a chaotic period, and the lyrics came about after we had a big argument in the kitchen while trying to record a demo at the time – it tracks the madness and intensity of trying to make sense to someone you care about, or to yourself in your head. There’s a kind of antagonistic self help mantra that resonates throughout; it’s about internal and external conflict. It’s angry, but it’s also full of love too.” Culminating in the catchy chorus line 'you mustn't panic there's just something burning in the attic', which serves as an appropriate metaphor for private contemplation, 'Gumball' sounds like a much-needed outlet for the group and it's one that we can all enjoy. -Holly Mullineaux
